Cold!
Why no updates in so long? Well, we’ve been busy snowmobiling! A very busy several weeks here, and things still look good.
Trail Conditions: I went out last night to Lovells and back, in temperatures down to about -4 F. That’s cold, I probably shouldn’t have worn the open face helmet… Trail conditions were excellent; the snow seems to have compacted down to a nice hard base with the extremely cold temperatures. This trail hadn’t been groomed in about 36 hours (I was chatting with Keith, one of the groomer drivers earlier in the day) and there were only minor ripples in the trail. Except for the cold air, it was easy to maintain 35-40 mph without any major concerns over the bumps.
CRASH! We had a group of 5-6 young guys in here a week or two ago. Yeah, you know who you are…. We were extra careful to give them a long speech about how many accidents happen around here, usually involving various combinations of speed, youth, and stupidity. I think they had all three. They had been out for about 2 hours when one rider clipped a tree, ripping off the right side suspension. The rest of the machine missed the tree, but I think the driver’s head didn’t miss it. He was unconscious and was taken in a helicopter to the Traverse City hospital. Luckily for him it was only a major concussion, and he was out of the hospital in 24 hours. Hopefully he has medical insurance to cover the transportation and hospital bills. He’ll have a bill from us also…
The moral of the story? BE CAREFUL!
Most weekends in February are mostly or all booked up, but we do have openings during the week (unless you’re the guys referred to above).
Cheers,
Rob

I had to rent a sled from you two weeks ago. I had a great time not thinking about my ski doo in the shop. Wanted to thank you for your professionalism and a pretty cool web site. Keep it going guys and let the snow keep falling.
